DOCUMENTARIES

Independent Producer / Director

Since 1991 I have worked on documentaries and historical recreations for broadcast television. These films have ranged from three Emmy award winning historical series to a UN sponsored children's series for cable.

In 2004 I created thirty-four films for the 9-11 Commission on the events of September 11, 2001.

Since then, I have been engaged in producing films for corporate clients as well as non-profits, such as National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship, United Nations World Food Program and Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation.

Producer / Director and second camera for the Showtime documentary series “What’s Going On”. These films were produced by RCN Entertainment in conjunction with the UN and focused on issues facing children today. The films were shot in Brazil (Child Labor) and India (Girls' Education) with UNICEF Goodwill ambassadors Susan Sarandon and Sonia Braga, respectively.

The “What’s Going On” series won the American Library Association’s 2005 award for “Most Notable Videos for Young Adults”.

The “Girls' Education” film was awarded a 2004 “Tribute Accolade” from Women in Cable and Television.

Producer / Director for the 9/11 Commission. Created thirty-four documentary videos, more than twenty-five original graphics and an evolving map of events for the Commission Hearing on the Events of September 11, 2001, which took place in New York City on Tuesday, May 18, 2004.

Quote from page 351 of Philip Shenon’s 2008 book The Commission: The Uncensored History of the 9/11 Investigation:

“Farmer's team opened the first day of the hearings with a riveting video re-creation of the morning of the attacks. It included the remarkable images caught by Gédéon and Jules Naudet, French filmakers and brothers, of American Airlines Flight 11, the first plane to hit the World Trade Center, as it plunged into the North Tower and exploded in a fireball. The video re-creation was produced for the Commission by Allison Prince, a veteran documentary maker who had spent weeks in the city's archives scouting for previously unseen videos that, while not graphic, captured the horrors of the day.”

Segment Field Producer / Assistant Director for PBS's “The American Promise” with director Tom Wedlinger. We produced historical recreation segments in Venice, Florence, Sicily, Le Chambon sur Lignon, Toronto, Philadelphia, Mystic Seaport and Williamsburg. The series won an Emmy.

Field Producer / Associate Producer for “Great Splendors of the World” (Guatemala’s Tikal and Greece’s Acropolis, Delphi and Sounion) with Director Rob Fruchtman. The series won an Emmy.
